President FAQ: Questions Players Ask
Playing
Is President free?
Yes. You can play with friends, with strangers or against bots without paying anything, and there is nothing to buy with real money.
Do I need an account?
No. You can join a friend's table with just a name, and play online at a public table. Signing in with Google or Apple lets you host your own tables, and keeps your matches, level, coins and look across devices.
How many people can play?
3 to 8 at one table. Any seat can be filled with a bot, so you can play with as few or as many friends as you like.
What happens if someone leaves?
If a player loses their connection, their seat waits a short while for them, then a bot plays for them until they come back. If someone leaves on purpose, a bot takes their seat and keeps their points, and the match goes on.
How long is a match?
5 hands by default, usually 10 to 20 minutes depending on the number of players. The host can change the number of hands, or play to a points target instead.
Why did I have to give away my best cards?
You finished last in the previous hand, so you are the Peasant. Before each new hand the Peasant gives the President their 2 best cards. Finish higher and it is your turn to receive.
Can I play a single card on a pair?
No. You have to play the same number of cards as the top of the pile, in a higher rank. The exception is the A single 2 beats anything house rule.
Which house rules are on?
Every table shows its rules as chips in the lobby and in the table menu. The host chooses them before the game starts.
Fairness
Are the bots cheating?
No. A bot only ever sees what a player in its seat would see: its own hand and what has been played. And the deal itself can be checked: see the next question.
How do I know the shuffle is fair?
Before each deal the table is shown a fingerprint of the shuffle. After the hand, the shuffle itself is revealed, and you can re-run it in your browser to confirm your hand was dealt exactly as promised. The fair shuffle explains how.
Your account
What are levels, coins and the shop for?
They are just for fun. Finishing matches earns experience (for levels) and coins, and you can spend coins on cosmetic items such as a ring around your avatar or a different table felt. None of it changes how the cards are dealt or how the game is played, and coins can't be bought or cashed out.
Who can see my profile?
Only the players at your table, and only your name, look, level, streak and match record. Your email address and sign-in picture are never shown. See the privacy policy.
How do I delete my account?
Open your profile from the home screen and choose Delete account. It is removed at once.
Is there an app?
Yes, President is in the app stores as President Online: Card Game. It plays at the same tables as the website.
